Bath: the hottest new foodie destination in 2025
Bath is having a moment. And it tastes incredible.

Recently named one of the world’s most exciting foodie destinations by the Michelin Guide, this historic city has long been admired for its beauty. But now, it is what’s on the plate that’s turning heads. With 13 Michelin Guide restaurants and a thriving, ever-evolving food scene, Bath is quietly redefining itself through flavour, provenance, and creativity.
Here, surrounded by the abundant farmland of the West Country, chefs are spoilt for choice. The city’s kitchens brim with vibrant local produce, the kind that speaks of place and season. It is no wonder both locals and visitors alike eat so well.
Emberwood opens its doors on 1st May, bringing fire-led cooking and ingredient-first menus to the heart of Bath. At the centre of our kitchen is the flame. Honest, elemental, and full of possibility. Around it, we build dishes that honour the land, the sea, and the hands that bring each ingredient to the pass.
Every dish at Emberwood tells a story. From crisp, briny Porthilly oysters to richly flavoured Creedy Carver chicken, and Isle of Wight tomatoes ripened on the vine. Each element is chosen with care by Head Chef David, whose menus draw deep inspiration from the region that surrounds us.
Of course, Bath offers more than just what is on the plate. Roman ruins, Georgian elegance, and the cultural buzz of a city steeped in stories all add to the experience. This year’s Jane Austen 250th anniversary will only deepen the city’s allure.
To truly understand what’s unfolding here, you need to feel the warmth for yourself.
