As the seasons turn golden, so do the vegetables on our plate. Pumpkins, potatoes, golden sherry vinegar...This season's offerings celebrate the rich, warming flavours that make this time of year somewhat nostalgic. It’s a moment to give thanks for hearty British food, and to test traditional recipes with our hearth, charred or flamed.

Setting the tone…

We're setting the tone with our spiced heritage Pumpkin Soup. Take our latest reel, Chef Dave stocking up pumpkins across the hearth, a moment for an iconic ingredient. Add in the charm of brown butter for a nutty richness and finished with a classic brasserie swirl of crème fraiche. It sings autumn harvest hymns as it leaves the pass.

Beef Stout Pie at Emberwood Bath

The main soulful performance.

A lover of the umami? Mushroom Risotto is a study in it. Layered with porcini and finished with our signature porcini aioli. Tipple some prepped pickled shiitake mushrooms they add a punchy contrast. While delicate girolles bring an elegant, earthy note.

Nothing says autumn quite like a proper pie, and our Beef Shin and Stout Pie deliver in spades. Slow-cooked beef shin which melts into a rich, dark gravy enriched with stout, all encased in golden pastry. Served with our seasonal greens, adding colour to this golden dish.

For lighter fare with no compromise on flavour, our Cornish Hake showcases the pristine quality of locally caught fish. Caramelised fennel brings sweetness, samphire adds a briny pop, and charred potatoes provide the perfect textural contrast. It's a dish that proves seasonal eating doesn't have to mean heavy.

Seeking something from the bursting sea at the stroke of midday? Our Cornish mussels are a must-try. Steamed in white wine and garlic chermoula and served with plenty of sourdough for mopping up every drop of that fragrant broth. They’re loved by our local crowd and a testament to the quality of Cornish seafood and the fullness of the sea this time of year.

This autumn menu reflects our commitment to working with the seasons, sourcing exceptional ingredients, and preparing them with care and creativity. Seeking the comfort of slow-cooked beef, the elegance of fresh fish, or the earthy satisfaction of mushroom dishes, we are here to please your tastebuds, and Exec Chef Dave is our gift that keeps on giving.

You know our doors are open for all, but to avoid disappointment we recommend booking in advance, especially on the weekend.

See you soon,
