The table is set with Bath Life lunches at Emberwood

Supporting local. Bringing people together over proper food and meaningful conversation.

11/02/26

December and January brought two exceptional Bath Life Network Lunches to Emberwood, each one a reminder of why we do what we do, bringing people together over proper food and meaningful conversation.

December welcomed Shires Yard to the city of Bath

We rounded off the year with William Riordan, founder of Shires Yard, sharing the inside story of the transformation that's reshaped part of Bath's landscape. The room was full of Bath's business entrepreneurs, creatives, settling in for an afternoon of genuine connection. Exec Head Chef, David Hazell, curated a capsule of our menu, mushroom risotto or rolled pork belly, with an Emberwood paired red wine set the tone. The atmosphere was warm, the conversations better.

January woke to leadership at Kingswood School

Last week, we welcomed Andrew Gordon-Jones, Headteacher of Kingswood School, for a discussion that felt essential for education, leadership, and community. The menu featured new dishes from the Winter season, such as slow-cooked lamb shoulder or hot pink beetroot linguine, followed by rhubarb cheesecake, whilst listening to some prompting and wise words. Narrated Frames captured the afternoon beautifully, as always, their work is immersive, engaging, with real personality.

Along springs March

Next month brings Robert Topping, founder of Topping & Company Booksellers, to the table. A decade ago, he set out to prove that a thoughtful independent retailer could compete with Amazon. Since then, Toppings has evolved, most recently with the move to York Street here in Bath and a soon-to-come opening in York. We are looking forward to the conversation in a city that loves its literature and independents.

And in the same month, we are excited to announce that we are a finalist at the Bath Life Awards. More on that soon.

We're proud to host these lunches. They matter. See you in March.
